Roses and Castles
by Geoff Summerfield
Roses and castles on boats often passing
When I was a lad on the old long canal
We would spend all our summer fishing all day
Just watching the working boats coming our way
Out with the rods I'd often heard say
Have you had much today and we'd answer 'em nay
And I've travelled all over and never felt lonesome
Life on the water is the life for me
And I've travelled all over and never felt lonesome
Life on the water is the life for me, it's for me
Working all day and most of the night
A leather faced man doing all that he can
With a mountain of coal, never seems to go down
Shovelling out for a quick turnaround
He and his family being as one
A smile on his face job nearly done
And I've travelled all over and never felt lonesome
Life on the water is the life for me
And I've travelled all over and never felt lonesome
Life on the water is the life for me, it's for me
That's life on the water for me
Grateful thanks to Geoff Summerfield for providing this song and the recording of the song which featured on a CD
