These are my byways these are my dreams
The lees(hills) and the woodlands
So many, so many shades of green
There's an early morning welcome from the lark amid the leaves
There's a buzzard circling high above, young to feed
And the sunlight she comes peeping, painting dappled trees
The ribbon of the water is beckoning me
These are my byways ....
Casting my eyes to the wings of the swan
Riding the waves of an endless song
Resting beneath this old oak tree
The beauty of the water bewitching me
There's a grey cloud o'er yonder, a chill across my cheek
There's a life behind me shining and ahead to greet
Memories so precious of this life along the cut
Not one single moment ... of regret
These are my byways ....
Casting my eyes to the wings of the swan
Riding the waves of an endless song
Resting beneath this old oak tree
The beauty of the water bewitching me
These are my byways ....
