Recorded over a weekend in 1975 at Mid Wales Sound Studio this album was engineered by Alan Green and produced by
Giggetty. The band comprised, at that time, Graham Green (12 string guitar and accordian). Brian Langtry (guitar,
mandolin and melodica), Dave Whalley (5 string banjo and whistles) and Glyn Halford (guitar). Jim William Jones
contributed six glorious poems. Barry Hipkiss played piano and Roy Deer (later to become a full time member of the
group) guested on electric bass and guitar.
Giggetty was formed in 1971 some 6 months after founder member Brian Langtry had opened a folk club in Wombourne
near Wolverhampton. They then became the resident group at the club which ran with a great deal of success booking
both local and name artists for some further 5 years until the premises became unavailable. The original line up was
Brian Langtry, Graham Green, Dave Whalley and Ken Ash.
They began to write their own material and in 1974, after the release of their first album, made their inaugural TV
appearance on BBC Midlands Today. They went on through the 70’s and early 90’s to make some 80 local and national
TV appearances along the way finding time to compose music for BBC documentaries, TV intro tunes and a number of
Black Country radio adverts. Their focus in all things Black Country, quirky and accessible humour and song style
quickly found favour amongst the natives of this fascinating discreet area of the Midlands. They formed “The Giggetty
Black Country Show” in 1973 comprising Giggetty, guest comedians, poets Ron Burns and Jim William Jones, historian
Winston Homer and of course the Black Country’s very own Aynuk and Ayli. This show in various guises toured theatres,
village halls, schools, clubs etc at an annual rate of over 100 gigs per year until 1997 when Brian Langtry was unable to
continue due to ill health.
